It feels like many moons ago, before Melbourne went into what was called one of the world’s worst pandemic lockdowns, that I painted a majestical statue called UooUoo. I was one of 100 Victorian artists chosen to work with UooUoo and create 100 statues that would form an art trail to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The event was postponed, but now it is scheduled to take place at the start of 2021.
RCH150 Anniversary Art Trail
20 January – 21 March 2021
Across Melbourne and Geelong
The UooUoo I worked with, titled Spring Wattle, will be located on the Yarra River in Southbank, not too far from the Eureka Tower. Despite a bad year for the aviation industry, Avalon Airport have donated to the Hospital to be the corporate sponsor of this UooUoo.
I’ve seen most of the designs and they are amazing. It will be worth taking a walk to see the styles and themes of some of Victoria’s many great artists. And it is all supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital.
In January 2021, a map of all the UooUoo locations will be published on the official site.
