Magenta and white paper daisy in the urban garden

There was a messy garden beside the footpath. It was only three meters wide with a wire fence on the other side. He wasn’t sure if somebody from the neighbourhood had attempted to start a garden here, but they had lost interest and it had become unkempt and uncontrolled, or if an arrangement of flowers had grown here by chance.

There was one single paper daisy with white and magenta petals growing alone in the dusty soil. He thought it wouldn’t be long before a child plucked it out to hold like a treasure.

Oil on canvas. 40cm x 30cm.
